Jowi aims to create a sense of ‘We’ through sound. The producer and DJ from Duisburg in Germany had her break when she played at Verknipt Festival in 2024 but has since followed up with some massive shows for Creamfields, Verknipt, Decibel, Kappa Futur, HIVE, TerminalV and multiple shows for the UK’s leading underground party brand – Teletech.
A very energic person, she carries this into her career, and most definitely her music. Her style of music is diverse, and that's been done intentionally, with the aim to always explore new ideas and create something unexpected and fresh.
Inspired in her early years of DJ’ing by leading females of the scene including Amelie Lens,Nina Kravitz and Charlotte De Witte, by how they took over the techno scene and made a clear statement about female presence. The sounds of artists like Ben Klock, Dax J and I Hate Models helped her understanding of techno’s ability to be intense yet have depth. It was discovering the harder styles that encouraged her to expand her own style and explore a faster, more intense way of playing and producing.
Pushing her raw emotion and energy into her tracks, she says that sometimes she can’t fully express it when playing 135 BPM hypnotic beats, she plans this year to embark on creating a new alias ‘Dolce Wita’ to represent a different side of her music. As a woman navigating the harder and faster side of techno, she wants to challenge stereotypes. “We can be raw and powerful too” she adds. There are no borders when it comes to making music, something that she has showed throughout her releases, most of which started out as free downloads with singles ‘Iloveyou’, ‘front’ and then a triple collaboration withJ azzy and Vino for ‘TAPE ON’.
